We are out there on the crowded streets of this great city, befriending people and introducing them to their greatest Friend.  At the same time, we're training everyone we can to Reap and Train Reapers!

The best way to get to know our work would be, of course, to join us on these needy streets!  But since that is not always possible, we have prepared this website to give you as good an understanding as possible.

What's New...

• Our team was again invited to help with this year's Summer Spiritual Retreat organized by three registered churches in Shanghai. Their main responsibility was in organizing the praise and worship sessions, but also in providing materials and technical support. We believe we've had an influence on the public gospel presentations as well. The three pastors who preached (each in their own church) each gave the clearest and most complete gospel presentation we've heard to date. At the end of the three days, more than 300 people had trusted in Christ and indicated willingness to be contacted further. Now the challenge will be to help the churches carry out the follow-up work!  (Posted: 7/28/2008)

• May was a month of travel for the Shanghai team. During the first part of the month, Joe traveled to neighboring Jiangsu Province to train church laypeople in evangelism and follow-up. They've asked him to return and provide discipleship training. Later in the month, Joe took ten of our trainees up to a Three-Self church in Shandong Province to put on an evangelistic meeting. More than twenty people came forward to receive Christ. Before the team left, they got the ball rolling for follow-up, which they had already trained church leaders to do.  (Posted: 6/14/2008)

• The Lord continues to expand our work. Since our current team leader took over, we are now seeing our third and fourth (spiritual) generation of leaders. There has been a renewed emphasis on discipleship in the midst of all this evangelism, and we have now taken on another new staff. Sean Cao has tasted the work world out of respect for his father's wishes, but under Joe's influence he developed a heart for leading people to Christ and helping them grow. Frustrated that the demands of work were taking him further and further from his heart's desire, he appealed to his father and received permission to serve with us full time. We rejoice that as of the beginning of this month, that has become a reality.  (Posted: 4/23/2008)

• What a fruitful month March has been. Including the Easter party, our Shanghai team has had the privilege of exalting Jesus through His Gospel by sharing it with 56 people. Of those people, 21 prayed to receive Christ as Savior, one of whom had never heard of Jesus before. Another thing to remember is that more than two-thirds of these heard of and received Christ on the side of a road, as our team went two-by-two looking for interested people with whom to share. We delight in making Christ known throughout the city, and rejoice in the harvest He grants us to reap!  (Posted: 4/6/2008)
