Welcome to TEL-Shanghai!
We are out there on the crowded streets of this great city,
befriending people and introducing them to their greatest Friend. At
the same time, we're training everyone we can to Reap and Train
Reapers!
The best way to get to know our work would be, of course, to join us on
these needy streets! But since that is not always possible, we have
prepared this website to give you as good an understanding as possible.
Check back here often to see our latest
news, prayer needs and
rejoicings.
You can also sign up
for delivery of news and prayer requests direct to your email inbox.
Bless you for your interest in these 17 million souls and in our efforts
to bring to each one a knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We look forward to seeing you out here one day!
In His Service,
The TEL-Shanghai Team

The Lord continues to expand our work. Since our current team leader took over, we are now seeing our third and fourth (spiritual) generation of leaders. There has been a renewed emphasis on discipleship in the midst of all this evangelism, and we have now taken on another new staff. Sean Cao has tasted the work world out of respect for his father's wishes, but under Joe's influence he developed a heart for leading people to Christ and helping them grow. Frustrated that the demands of work were taking him further and further from his heart's desire, he appealed to his father and received permission to serve with us full time. We rejoice that as of the beginning of this month, that has become a reality. (Posted: 4/23/2008) What a fruitful month March has been. Including the Easter party, our Shanghai team has had the privilege of exalting Jesus through His Gospel by sharing it with 56 people. Of those people, 21 prayed to receive Christ as Savior, one of whom had never heard of Jesus before. Another thing to remember is that more than two-thirds of these heard of and received Christ on the side of a road, as our team went two-by-two looking for interested people with whom to share. We delight in making Christ known throughout the city, and rejoice in the harvest He grants us to reap! (Posted: 4/6/2008) The Easter season has again come and gone, though we continually remember the death and resurrection of our Lord through communion services and (hopefully) daily meditation. This year, as in years gone by, our Shanghai team put together an Easter party for all interested friends. Attendance was lower than in the past mainly because we're inviting fewer and fewer people outside our own ministry contacts. But as it was, more than 50 people joined the party, with four trusting in Christ that day and an additional five expressing interest in knowing more. The harvest is still plentiful here, and we rejoice in having a part in the reaping! (Posted: 3/28/2008) A few months back, our Shanghai team was invited to train a group of lay leaders at a church in neighboring Zhejiang. This church was closer than most that have invited us, so we were keen to help out. Joe and Jason spent almost a week among them for some intensive training, but cut the time a day short as the heavy snows began to fall. We'll be watching for an opportunity to return and see how they're doing in application. (Posted: 3/6/2008)
